Coraline
My copy of the DVD is 2D cos I have a visual impairment affecting my left eye that makes 3D movies and Magic Eye books a pain to view.
Although a bit scary in parts for younger children it is a tale of courage in defeating the deceptive other version of her life on the surface 'better' life on the other side as they try to trap her.

The Sea and Soldier Of Love
No! We're not going to the seaside although that would be rather fun but it's the name of Corinne Bailey Rae's new album issued in the UK on Virgin on February 1st.
Of the ballads 'The Sea' a piece inspired by the downing of her Grandfather, has lush beatlesque qualitys and closes the album on a high. My copy was the digipak but really it's more a mini lp style gatefold sleeve minus a inner sleeve.
I'd grade it three and a half out of five which may sound low but this album is heads and shoulders above much of what R&B divas come up with lyrically and stylistically and is a slow grower.
It seems so long from the groups last releases Lovers Rock Live never mind the Lover's Rock itself.
In that time much in the World has changed and not necessarily for the better.
The good thing I would say about this album is just that - it's basically the same vibe - just updated with lyrics that match our needs today surrounded as we are by conflict and mutual misunderstanding.
As ever Sade have come up with sophisticated pop, with heartfelt lyrical themes and lithe acoustic guitars often played against snappish synthetic beats. The lead single Soldier Of Love is aurally ornate, with military-issue snare drumming. Be That Easy is feathery country soul, and In Another Time waltzes slow to a minor key. There’s no big-beat single, nor is their any of the all too prevailing auto tune. Strongly recommended.

Kanon & Ocean waves
This was a four disc region 1 dvd set I got for Christmas and have been watching recently.
The story is narrated through Yuichi who hasn't seen his cousin Nayuki in years.
He sees in time the pieces of this puzzle, the mysterious girl with the winged backpack, a sword wielding dragon slayer and an eerie silent beauty with blazing tresses but it's up to Yuichi to discover how all these pieces of the puzzle fit together.
This entry is a bit late as I've had the dvd since it's release over here one that wasn't without being put back a few times. It's also worth noting that this title isn't and will not be released in North America because it was not part of the deal done by Disney who distribute Studio Ghilbi there.
This offering was one that Hayao Miyazaki, co-founder of Studio Ghibli and the director of many highly regarded Ghibli titles played no part in. This has left this title which gives younger staff members an opportunity to shine to be neglected in the West
Ocean Waves is a story impacting only on three characters, Taku and Yutaka who are joined by Rikako (a transfer student from Tokyo), locked inside their own small little world.
It is a moving story which I enjoyed although the characterization revealed in the story for Yutaka was too short and we only see the selfish side of Rikako rather then the mature woman she became.

Jinty
When we talk about the past such as we did last month inevitably it is whole past we are considering and not just one aspect which was something I recall discussing with a careworker as a boy at the time.
The world of the Children was very much divided into things for girls and things for boys and that took in comics beyond the humour comics such as The Dandy and Beano so the likelihood of seeing a girls comic for me was slim.
Generally the only boy who may was one who had a sister or two and even then he'd need to careful that wasn't to become knowledge with his mates which wasn't much use to me as much as I'd of willing traded my younger brother in for one.
Jinty in nineteen seventy nine might well of been one I'd of loved given the front cover of this edition given a choice with mystery and intrigue in the comic strips.
Society was starting to change, heck we had the first Woman Prime Minister that year which I even had afternoon tea with so Jinty had a sports section in much the way Tiger had been sports centred so it had become a "got it all" girls comic.
And it still had a place for dolls.
It is sad comics of such quality are no more being replaced by celebrity culture magazines, teen fashion and the stories Jinty would of published left to the Comic Books or important Manga.

A sissy belongs in skirts
Between the more interests based posts on this blog, the posts about my past and more general posts around fashion, there are some around around what it means about being a sissy gurl.
While there can be reasons for wearing shorts in general terms a Sissy Gurl belongs in skirts and dresses as they help express much better hur femininity which is at the core of what makes hur a sissy and not just a gender variant male.
In certain situations that goes beyond "belongs" and into demands at which point we comply without one inch of suggesting anything else.
It may be something more along these lines, casual girls wear with a nice short pleated skirt and mary janes.
Giving Tammy a really hard spanking really would be a reward for me remining me too who really is in charge of this little sissy.

The Doobie Bros: 2006 Japanese remasters
My first discs were regular German copies but I recently saw Rare Waves had these Japanese discs in that looked like a miniaturized lp record and I bought a few to go with the Mofi discs I bought recently such as The Captain and Me.
They look a bit like this:
The gatefold version have a gatefold, the original inner sleeves for the lps are reproduced exactly as they were and the cds feature the original lp label designs used back then.
In addition 'Vices' has the poster too!
The sound quality of these is very good indeed much better than the old German discs that are still on catalogue over here.
WPCR 12349 S/T (1971)
WPCR 12352 What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits (1974) features Black Water
WPCR 12353 Stampede! (1975) Features Take Me In Your Arms
WPCR 12354 Takin' It To The Streets featuring the title track and It Keeps You Runnin'.
WPCR 12355 Livin' On The Fault Line (1977) Features Little Darling and Chinatown
WPCR 12356 Minute By Minute (1979) Features What A Fool Believes
I compared this to the 2005 Audio Fidelity AFZ025 gold disc done by Steve Hoffman and there was just a little bit more detail on that and slightly smoother but the tonality was basically the same and this unlike the Audio Fidelity is in print.
WPCR 12357 One Step Closer (1980) includes Real Love.
Rare Waves has Ebay UK and Amazon UK stores and the service is extremely good.
