Little Sissy's Winter away days

This week we'll go back to last week although it felt more like December  looking at how being away was involving a train journey part of the way before I was kindly given a lift for the reminder stopping off at Tintern Abbey near Chepstow enroute.

It is is a ruin undertaking as can be evidenced from the scaffolding renovation works part structural and part to restore elements lost in previous attempts.

It's pretty big, very much self contained settlement although finding it took a bit of doing as the signing wasn't obvious.

We called in the cafe adjacent to it for a bite to eat as it had been a good while since we'd eaten and I had a "White Monk's Breakfast" which was the local form of the traditional a full bacon and egg "English" fried breakfast that was extremely good.

When we got to the Eleventh Century manor house we were staying at we did explore the extensive grounds there were a lot of snowdrops and daffodils out looking towards the local fields and hills.

That's where I stayed!

Fortunately for sissikins, there were lots of dollies and a forest of pink everything's which was great for getting very little which is something I've been needing to be honest.

I did mention the time seemed different and it was cos it was Christmas and everything was centred around that so we had a tree that was decorated.

Santa came with presents such as a super gurlie activity set with colouring book and green bag plus a little princess was bag and a Christmas box on Christmas eve that had scrumptious amounts of chocolates in it.

There were arts and crafts sessions that included making decorations such as chains, things for the tree such as my Cat one, making place mats for Christmas dinner and so on that was fun.

We did Home Economics, making Mince pies, decorating Ginger biscuits with seasonal art, cup cakes and even making our very own Pizzas from dough so with a great issue with cheese mine was tomato, turkey and ham.

We held games with a twist on musical chairs, quiz's, landing a jelly object on a Christmas tree target and getting a pin on the top of the donkey. The team I was part of came second in the General Knowledge quiz.

Catering was by us and we had a traditional very tasty Christmas Dinner with Christmas pudding  and turkey, ham and salad with chips Boxing day meal. Well we had plenty of turkey and ham so you might as well us it which our parents always did!

It felt like it really was Christmas all over again for this sissy.

Christmas is coming

After last weeks music post we'll start the countdown toward Christmas as I work the blogging schedule as I'm usually pretty busy but i think it should be two full posts and something on or around Christmas Day.
At the start of last week, our Christmas tree came which in this age of elf and safety had to planted and wired by people with certificates not sophisticats lest somebody either climb up it or try stealing the bulbs whilst turned on.

The people here have a collection to  pay for the tree which is as well as we do want something like this at Christmas and keeps the lights that have to put on it.
I think every town and estate should have one.

Obviously it isn't going to be the same as Mom's not around anymore as messed up as last Christmas was with both of us very unwell although I have got daddy to bring out the Christmas tree and the Nativity scene Mom and I so looked forward to setting up plus things like the milk and a Turkey have been sorted out.

One of the last things we did together was wave to Santa last year as he came around in his sleigh.

It's just the memories of going around the shops looking for gifts, trying out clothes, seeing Santa Claus on the district shopping centre and walking to visit family and friends with presents and cards that I'll miss.

I was always Mummy's gurl.

Christmas 2018

The day is finally came and I was out of my jim jams and into my pinafore dress, shirt, school tie and grey socks ready to get some breakfast sorted before opening the presents.

Starting this Christmas edition like last year made 'on the hoof', Elgar has always called with most my recordings being from the very late 1970's to the 1980's.
This newish acclaimed one, came out in 2016 offers two works I did not have and adds them in both stereo and surround sound in Super Audio cd quality (playable also in regular cd).
It will no doubt be treasured.

The Dandy is the always the Dandy, one a few comics I had as child and while sadly it no longer comes out weekly, it does have summer specials and this annual that stay with the original stories and indeed do even have reprints of cartoon strips from past years

One difference this year is I didn't get the Beano annual because there has been a big change in how the more traditional cartoon series have been drawn, in some such as Dennis the Menace written so he doesn't actually menace that messes up the whole backdrop to the character and a move toward so-called political correctness in the newer stories.
Instead I opted for this compilation issued to mark the 65th anniversary of Minnie The Minx  which consists of reprints of classic adventures as is which is a tribute to a heroine of mine.

I did however pick up the 2018 Christmas special edition which as 68 pages and printed more like a softback magazine.

lt fits in where I'd of had the comic editions across Christmas showing had I'd of had them being a good example of where the comic is at today.

I got the compilation in the "Classic" series entitled Food fights with stories on that theme from the Dandy and Beano archives with stories involving Korky the cat, Winker Watson, Dennis The Menace and others I loved as a boy.

Finally a new anime for me to watch in blu ray and regular dvd too.

And another but this one is just in blu ray.
This was a much talked about anthropomorphic animated film from 2016 that I had as a 'stocking filler' on Blu-Ray.

Because I am a adult little gurl I
had a couple of pairs of David Luke gym knickers for when I'm away and we do sports.

I also had some money and vouchers.

We had a turkey roast for dinner and a Christmas pudding that I microwaved with cream afterward before I cleared the table and went off for a walk.

I hope everyone has had an enjoyable Christmas.

Christmas 2017

It's usual on this blog to write something around Christmas here because it for one thing it's a major childhood memory, it's almost as big on my age regressed side having that Christmas Eve anxiety at night thinking what I may be having and finally its two whole different days. A heady mixture, what?

I'm home with Mummy and Daddy and I can smell the Turkey cooking ready for Lunch as we visit our neighbours and having just opened my presents.

Fun that was a direct re-run from my actual childhood came from this annual with adventures from Dennis the Menace, Minnie the Mix and the Bash Street Kids plus a special annual of the Dandy featuring such favourites as Korky the kat, Desperate Dan and Beryl the Peril.

I had some money from Mum, one brother that were put toward some compact discs and a HMV voucher.

Although the whole relationship between me, scouting in general and gender is messy one, one thing I had a Brownies annual from a few years back with a very inclusive cover and I think today's brownies is really more what I'd of loved.

As strange as it might sound finding a recording on sacd of either Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture or Romeo and Juliet is difficult as much as you might of thought hifi people might of seen that as a demonstration title.

I had this disc which has Romeo and Juliet plus Orchestral extracts from The Snow Maiden coupled with a recording of his First Symphony by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra by the much talked about conductor, Neeme Jarvi plus a sacd set of Sibelius Symphonies and Chopin Preludes.

As well I had a scarf and blu rays of Back To The Future  together with the Karate Kid which were two of my favourite movies from the 80's as I slowly replace a few by the better looking blu ray versions.
I hope you had a super day with your gifts and toys but also with company too.

Xmas 2007

It wouldn't be a Christmas for me without my annuals so here's this years set for endless fun for me reading and doing the competitions in while the groan ups talk about stuff that really doesn't interest me.
And here's the other, The Dandy's that my Gran used to buy me copies of the regular comic of as a kid.

Desperate Dan is sat by his fire on the range singing folk songs with his horse.
Jacqueline Wilson is more my kind of authoress writing more for girls that works very well for little sissy gurls like me so this is so so up my alley.

I go out for Christmas lunch with mummy and daddy and siblings after meeting up locally so mummy gets a day off from cooking.
