Advent is here

It is easy to lose hours online going down rabbit holes even if some of that time ends up as time trying to ensure we don't go down the wrong sorts of rabbit holes that might cause issues later.

I mean I had to have some "correction" at one point as I was losing whole nights to internet addiction and I just couldn't stop myself resulting in tons and tones of functioning related problems affecting the real world.

I'd love to be able to game but between finder dexterity issues and lacking energy - which that other stuff really messed up - that doesn't happen but I do love music so have been redoing some of personal music that is stored on Micro SD cards to much better quality.

I also do have a newer, more capable personal digital audio player.

And we are entering the month where towards the end of it we celebrate Christmas (although other people do celebrate other things too and that's fine).

I usually like to countdown the days before Santa Claus tackles the chimney with his gifts for me and so my Lindt Teddy Bear choco Advent Calendar is up and being used as intended.

When you open up a door for each day in December you have either a small chocolate ball or a Teddy Bear made from chocolate which is just super.

Advent 2023

While I'm wrapped up with fleecy top and bottoms with hot cocoa with the minus temperatures here waiting for the postman to call collect a parcel return as Amazon goofed up totally and being smartphone free return options as most now use QR codes at the collection point it kind of reminds you we have only so many days to go before Christmas.

Usually like most littles I countdown the days and traditionally that involves an Advent calendar with chocolate to be revealed as the days get fewer and fewer.

This years is a little different for being that of the arch nemesis of Christmas, the Grinch who as you'll remember tried to steal Christmas but included with this is a Happy Christmas greeting.

Perhaps the Grinch gets the point?

In Brownies you may make a "Reverse Advent Calendar" which focuses more on what you can give rather than what we may wish to receive or a wreath you could put on your front door.

Anyway get set to enjoy the countdown yourself!

Advent is here!

 Hey, we're in December now!

We begin the Christmas countdown here with something that  a friend has already started as they make a pictorial Advent Calendar at one site every year which I really like.

Christmas is really for Children and whose of us who may in law be adults but retain much of our childhood selves, enjoying all the little rituals we re-enact year after year and one for me involves advent calendars.

While things are different than they were, as the sort of ones I had often had things connected more with the Christmas Story like angels, shepherds and the like, this one, based on the hit tv series Paw Patrol is one the one I've got.

It's simple, no toys behind each square or anything like that, just the choco but simple is really what I'm wanting not those more adult type ones certain people are pushing that cost tens of pounds.

It also means I can read a bit per week of this years Beano comic christmas special with 68 full colour pages just as I did back then.

It was colder out this week, temperatures down to three degrees but although the hat, gloves and dufflecoat were on so were the dresses and skirts, still out on the street, interacting with folk.

I usually tend to run down this blog over christmas as I like to spend time making it happen, being with my folks and that so we should pause in two weeks time until Boxing Day Monday.

Counting down the days

Advent began last Wednesday following the Christian Calendar which was marked as ever on a choco Advent Calendar marking a time honoured childhood tradition as we count down the nights to come before Christmas Day and whatever Santa Claus has instore for us when it comes to presents.

This years is a Paw Patrol one whose windows you open with your finger nails and it has a colouring book for later too but in other years it's been Hello Kitty ones or The Secret Life of Pets  and before now my parents had bought me one too seeing really I'm very much a gurl still and a feminine one at that.

We've had strong winds and sleet as a cold front battled over us rather like they did early last week where we had a good inch and a half of snow fall so I've had to wear my thick warm Puma track pants all week apart from last Wednesday when it was a bit warmer.

Getting set for Advent

Well, it's not so far off but I've made preparations this year for the start of the great countdown otherwise known as Advent which from childhood always was a magical thing aided by having a calendar.

Way back then, they were card based  with you pulling back a flap to uncover various things and at least in our house, nominally religious in character.

This is a very nomable which is currently atop of a short floor standing bookcase facing the front room window cos I don't care anymore.

A little feminine sissy gurl lives in this house and does stuff like this apart from colouring his Frozen colouring in most days!

Just open a door each day, eat some chocolate and see the days before Christmas go before your very eyes.

Before I forget also happy thanksgiving folks!

Advent 2013

As we're slowly getting toward Christmas and slowly being the operative word  having been without the internet for over 48 hours (rant) my mind drifts back to how we always used to count it down.

That's right the Advent Calendar, and that's mine for this year, ready to be put up on living room wall and being with milk chocolate, also consumed!

Guessed you'd of thought it just had to feature that cat!!!

I'm so into kawaii!
