Past childhood into new adult-childhood

There are lots of different ways in which the way we express our little selves of which one of the more obvious is how outside of our adult lives we elect to present ourselves through what we wear.

Whatever it may be, it is always to drawn a line under what may be classed as being seen as an adult (although of course that doesn't alter The Law) and to resemble outwardly our little selves.

To varying degrees what it is inwardly our sense of littleness which for a few such myself is always there and so is involuntary and permanent would show just on its own whatever we we be wearing but we feel more at one with it more when we resemble our little selves physically.

There is I feel an issue at heart of littles communities  that really causes much heartache and that is the extent that many seem to locked in the cultural norms of the seventies and sixties where boys only do certain things and dress one way and ditto girls and this can apply even to those who see themselves as transgender.

I was more with the Free To Be Me ideals where we looked beyond a persons sex and said you can do and wear what you wish regardless of your sex even if you may thing you're in the wrong body.

.
Some still say in effect girls can only be littles if in skirts and dresses and boys can only be one in short trousers or those awful longs even if today's boys and girls may dress very differently and have more mixed interests.

As a feminine sissy gurl I have the right to wear a dress and be that gurl and girls who prefer to wear shorts when playing shouldn't be told they cannot be near people at events if they wear shorts cos they're not girls and the people associate shorts with boys.

It's easy to understand a boy who was ill treated perhaps in them for wishing to wear a skirt may have certain associations but what right does that give them to prevent another being themselves not least if they were bullied by girls in dresses and pereline socks?

Peoples behaviour has nothing to with what they wear while in it, the attitude is in their minds not their clothes and surely we need to stop treating people badly just because they wear one sort of attire.

Sometimes people argue about  you can have parts in your Little Space that are not of the era you were brought up in as if they are not emotionally an authentic part of you so that if say you were brought up in say the nineteen fifties, you cannot have plushies or have say books from other eras.

In my regressed world you can add some things into it so say teddy bears can be complemented by say a dinosaur Plushie because it's function and utility to is the same, you play with it, it comforts you as hold and hug it as the inner child you are.

In much the same way to read say the books of Jacqueline Wilson is a part of understanding a part of contemporary childhood with the objects and experiences our age in it, that can aid me understand more of this age I'm travelling through as the hybrid adult-child I am

Equality for all

It is summer but with Covid around it certainly doesn't feel it with no one able to be away or stay with anyone overnight so I've spent my time out just exploring in the fresh air.

I've found myself thinking during this period about where things need to be for everyone including people like me to feel accepted.

Comparing how things were when I grew up in the seventies and eighties and today we can see some clear signs of progress in what we might call gender roles in society and how we can ensure people are raised to take full advantage of those opportunities.

What seems to be helping us to achieve the most we can right now in society is that people are realizing there are traits that belong to both genders, and those traits that were traditionally considered 'masculine' are there in women, and the 'feminine' traits are there in men.

It's no longer seen as a problem when someone shows traits that are often considered to belong to the opposing gender--men cry and get upset in bad situations, or are gentle and soft holding a baby in their arms.

Women are more and more in the positions of power (here in the UK we've had two female Prime Ministers), and taking control of rough situations.

I don't think we need to go to a society where the women are wearing the business suits and running things while the men are dolled up in short skirts with makeup and painted nails.

That's where I break with some feminists and most on the sissy fetish side.

I hold to reverse the roles completely would be just as disastrous as the way things had been run.

Instead, we need the roles equalized and that femininity should never be seen a bad thing.

When we can get to the point where a parent gives their child a pair of panties and a sundress to wear for the day and nobody cares whether the child is a girl or boy, the world will be a much better place.

We'll get there slowly--as the previous generations die out and the new ones grow up, acceptance of things like this grows.

Someone who grew up with a 'macho' father becomes friends with a more feminine boy and realizes there's nothing wrong with it.

Now, their son grows up to be accepting of both feminine and masculine things, and their child more so.

Those of us who grew up experiencing both sides of the equation when the roles were so much more rigidly defined seem to be some of the biggest champions for equality.

I learned firsthand that girls don't have a more difficult life compared to boys, but instead each gender faces their own difficulties and with each gender were variants such as Jane Girls like me and Tom Boys.

We have the right to be free to be me.

Now That's What I Call Music CD Part 3

I wasn't expecting to make this post until a few months at least but release schedules are a bit all over the place these days but anyway this came out on July 24th so in our series we'll do a review.
This as originally released in November 1985 was the biggest selling Now! album to date going straight to number 1 on the UK albums chart - one factor in reviewing eligibility in 1989 that took affect from 1990 to screen out various artists compilations.

It was a stronger album than Now Five for having a number of major singles releases  such as Queen's One Vision and Simple Minds Alive and Kicking  as well as Arcadia's much talked about Election Day, that group being one of the two spin-offs from Duran Duran.

As this cd goes for unexplained reasons - probably licensing - the Bryan Adams Tina Tuner collaboration It's Only Love is missed off CD 1although it was on record one of the lp version buying that on release.

It's a not a big loss, it wasn't a chart topper but more a radio play pop hit song in honestly but its absence underscores a recurring issue in the cd reissues in this series where the albums don't fully resemble the lp and tape versions we the audience expect.

Perhaps the biggest mistake in the series to date sadly is on this one because Marillion's Lavender was specially remixed for single as the album version on Misplaced Childhood, a great album in my opinion is a more meandering pedestrian rendition.

That album version just doesn't really fit in the rest of the the songs on Now 6.

I can overlook a slightly longer album version for a singles edit done to make it snappier but that could only of been done by a person who did not compare and listen to both as if they just found a file marked Lavender and by Marillion and said ah that's it, next"!

For me the only "essential" up coming ones are Now 7 of which just over a handful made the No '86 cd in 1986 and Now 9 where a half and some of better half were left off a single cd in1987.

The Tammy and Jinty Special 2020

With you know what about you really need some child-like escapism which we use back then.

Unfortunately as a feminine boy I didn't get Jinty first time around but Rebellion Publishing who have acquired the rights to the old Oldhams and IPC comic title rights and a good number of the cartoon series featured have seen fit to not just own them but issue specials.

Last year we had one that I loved and today a two story special came out.

This is one of two stories opening pages which goes to a staple of comics of my era and especially both girls comics and books, boarding schools.

Naturally most readers of Jinty and other girls publications rather as with boys stories such as Winker Watson in the Dandy had not actually been to one unlike me but knew enough about  the rules, regime and intrigues that applied.

As a schoolgirl or a schoolboy such as myself something about a core part of life was most relatable and lent itself to discussion at playtimes or when with friends outside school hours about what had happened and what we'd of done.

I'm glad Rebellion care to bring back titles like Jinty with a more updated but kept in the past feel.

On the go with musings

There's been a few things going on this week which  I'll get around to talking about but one is the extent to which I now recognize I'm very much a physical activity centred person whereas in the past with being less obviously mobile it was just assumed I was sedentary preferring to sit quietly with a book up a corner.

People sometimes confuse that sense of being or needing to be always physically "on the go" with sports which can for many be an expression of it but it need not be because it is that need be moving your body around that can come in activities like making things especially in a group such as building structures or racing cars on your hands and knees.

It's like we can't settle for long without having to get up and go which has bedevilled traditional sat at the desk chalk and talk education rather than more hands on and even outdoor education in schools.

I spotted that this week and just acted on it going out to let it out several times in a day as so long as it doesn't get in way of regular life, it's fine.

Another is something that I feel we are in danger of losing and that is the sense of conviction about what is we say, feel and believe being prepared to be open about it rather than to fudge or even backtrack in the face of opposition.

It is impossible to have meaningful discussion when topics are said to be no longer debatable and where those who may disagree effectively howl down and deliberately seek to ruin peoples lives for challenging their little world.

Equally as the protagonist, you need to be prepared to stand firm and put forward your case citing relevant facts and experiences respectfully.

For me he summed it up well so supporting specifically feminine and masculine spaces and living openly as an adult little is a perfectly okay thing to do.

Summer holiday time edition

As I'm typing this I'm on the umpteenth glass of pop trying to stay both cool and hydrated this warm weekend.
Naturally school is off even if sadly it was only half on at best since Spring as I struggle to recall anything like this from my own childhood as more or less everything isn't what it was since the word Covid-19 entered the daily news reports.

It's really rather more the outdoors that I've clung onto, watching birds and insects going about their business, enjoying the tree blossoms and flowers growing  and even looking after this.
I've also been reading a fair bit from comics and comic annuals to the books I adored as a child probably cos in this messed up world I have the same needs for escaping what's around me.

These two books are quite intriguing not least The Mystery of the Co-ed School which is unusual as most fiction of this sort is normally set in all girl schools and that illustration is rather puzzling.

I mean just what is that boy doing sneaking around by that door as a girl is running away toward the school gate with him in pursuit pursued by a Headmaster?

It seems the same needs for repetition, routines and security I had then apply now and in odd sense never really being fully adult seems to aid it as inevitably we have to try to work our way through this one day at a time.

Because this month I may not be away with friends due to you know what doesn't mean I cannot look back at those moments and some of the views I saw such as walking around this lake in East Anglia enjoying the tranquility of it all.

It's the memories we make that help us get through difficult times such as those we are all facing presently.

On relationships

Sometimes I do talk a little about other issues here and to me relationships and the things that go with them is worthy of consideration.

With many challenges in the world today, values it seems are a thing that do matter but we seem really reluctant to talk about.

For instance to get through the restrictions we are all facing present with Covid-19 we need to understand why they exist and to feel we can trust each other to keep to them, having a sense of responsibility toward one another.

For me and I suspect a good number of others these are things we started to learn about as kids in out homes, in school, in church or through things such as scouting.

We rely on each other and so we slowly but surely start to understand that we need to follow rules and when we agree to do something, that we must keep our Word and if we didn't we'd be at least spoken to quite firmly about it because it matters and as get older and so are expected to do more, more so.

One thing I do feel we need to talk about to is the love of each other - I don't mean romantic love - but the love between us that you may of had for a sibling or your friends at school or in brownies.

It's not just that we say we care about them it is out actions in looking out for them, helping them as best we can according to our abilities, even just providing an understanding ear when they need it.

Sometimes we fall short in showing that and sadly even in being able to accept the love others have for us.

Let's try to do our best.
